Ayatollah Arafi: This Year's Quds Day Must Become a Grand Historic Arena

The Director of Seminaries across Iran has issued a powerful statement calling on the revolutionary and devoted nation to participate in this year's International Quds Day rallies, emphasizing that the 2026 event coincides with a critical and complex historical juncture for Iran, the region, and the entire world.

Hawzah News Agency, Ayatollah Alireza Arafi released a communiqué urging the faithful and freedom-seekers worldwide to demonstrate their steadfastness. "This year's Quds Day is different," his message reads, "as it coincides with a momentous and intricate historical phase in Iran, the region, and the world, simultaneous with the fateful war of Ramadan. This year, it must transform into a vast and significant historic arena."

The full text of the statement is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Crusher of Tyrants, the Destroyer of Oppressors

With greetings and praise upon the Great Prophet (PBUH), the Infallible Imams (PBUT), and the Imam of the Age (may God hasten his reappearance), I once again offer my congratulations and condolences for the martyrdom of our beloved martyrs—from the people and the armed forces, especially the student martyrs, and most notably, the martyrdom of our dear Imam Khamenei.

I emphasize the importance of the nation's continued, cohesive presence on the ground, particularly on International Quds Day.

Quds Day is the legacy of Imam Khomeini and the Martyred Leader. The brave nation of Iran, the Islamic Ummah, and global freedom-seekers have always honored this day and displayed their enemy-defying presence. However, this year's Quds Day is different. It coincides with a crucial and complex historical moment in Iran, the region, and the world, and aligns with the decisive battle of Ramadan.

The courageous and gallant nation of Iran has transformed the entire month of Ramadan into Quds, but it is essential that this year's Quds Day becomes a vast and grand historical arena.

The magnificent presence of our dear people in defense of Islam, Iran, and the Revolution; the renewal of our covenant with the Martyred Imam Khamenei; the firm pledge of allegiance to the new Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei; support for the armed forces, the soldiers of Islam, the noble Basiji members, and the guardians of the nation's security and resistance must become even more evident.

While expressing gratitude to all the people—the honorable women, men, and youth—who, during the holy month of Ramadan and the historic battle between Islam and disbelief, resisted and created wonders against the intricate conspiracies of the American and Zionist enemy, and while commending the astonishing and formidable resistance of the armed forces, I also extend my appreciation to the grand religious authorities, scholars, cultural and seminary institutions, the esteemed clergy, distinguished preachers, and elites across the country. I praise their solidarity with the people in all arenas, mosques, and programs, and their efforts in the fields of propagation and the jihad of explanation.

I request them all to remain intelligently and courageously steadfast on the path of public presence and the jihad of explanation, especially on Quds Day, until the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the Nowruz holidays.

Undoubtedly, this unified and valiant presence of our great nation, by divine grace, is the fundamental core and the gushing source of the nation's power and our national and Islamic authority in the contemporary world. With God's help and the blessings of the Imam of the Age (may God hasten his reappearance), and by virtue of the pure blood of the martyrs, this path will continue, God willing.

We send greetings upon the pure souls of all honorable martyrs, the Great Imam (RA), and the Martyred Imam (RA).

Alireza Arafi
Director of Seminaries

The statement carries significant weight as it explicitly frames this year's Quds Day within the context of recent political developments. The reference to the "new esteemed Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei" is a notable element, reflecting the continuity of the Islamic Revolution's leadership following the martyrdom of Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

By linking the defense of Palestine with domestic unity and allegiance to the new leadership, the message seeks to consolidate the pillars of the Revolution: the people, the religious establishment, the armed forces, and the supreme guide. It portrays the upcoming rallies not merely as a show of solidarity with Palestine, but as a fundamental pillar of Iran's national security and ideological identity in a turbulent world.
