Hawzah News Agency- Spokespersons and senior officials from the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have issued statements extending their "warmest congratulations" to the nation and leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the appointment of Ayatollah Khamenei.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem conveyed the movement's sentiments, addressing their "brothers in the Islamic Republic" and expressing hope that the new Leader's tenure would guide the Iranian people toward fulfilling their aspirations. In a statement that underscored the shared strategic objectives of the resistance front, Qassem voiced confidence in Ayatollah Khamenei's leadership to "defeat the Israeli-American aggression and prevent the forces of arrogance from imposing their will on Iran”.
This sentiment was echoed by the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Ziad al-Nakhala, who emphasized that "all free peoples of the world stand with you and see in your steadfastness, struggle, and victories a triumph for themselves and for their just causes”. Al-Nakhala further reaffirmed the unwavering position of the Palestinian people, stating they stand "at all times against America and Israel alongside their fellow fighters and brave resistors in Lebanon”.
These messages of support follow in the footsteps of similar congratulations from other members of the resistance axis, including Yemen, whose President Mahdi Al-Mashat hailed the new Leader's appointment as a milestone demonstrating the strength and resilience of the Iranian state amid what he termed "brutal American-Zionist aggression”.
The selection of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Leader of the Islamic Republic was made by the Assembly of Experts following the martyrdom of his father, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The late Leader was killed in a cowardly US-Israeli airstrike on February 28, an act of state terrorism that has further galvanized the resistance front.
The relationship between Iran and the Palestinian resistance groups is long-standing and deeply rooted in the Islamic Republic's principled policy of supporting the liberation of Palestine. This bond was most recently exemplified in a meeting just over a year ago, when the late Ayatollah Khamenei received a senior Hamas delegation in Tehran. During that meeting, he praised the Palestinian resistance for its "great achievement" in forcing the Israeli regime to halt its brutal war on Gaza, declaring that the people of Gaza had "become an example for all those who have their hearts in resistance”. He had also previously emphasized that "Palestine is a major issue for us and the victory of Palestine is also a definite issue for us”.
The new Leader assumes his role at a critical juncture, with the Islamic Republic and the resistance front facing coordinated challenges from the United States and the Israeli regime. The congratulatory messages from Hamas and Islamic Jihad reaffirm that, under its new leadership, Iran continues to stand as the central pillar of support for the oppressed Palestinian nation and the broader struggle against global arrogance.
