Indian Clerics Condemn Terror Attack on Shia Mosque in Islamabad as Inhuman Crime

The Assembly of Scholars and Preachers of India have strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a Shia Mosque in Islamabad, describing it as a brutal and inhuman crime against religious sanctities and fundamental human values.

Hawzah News Agency- In a statement issued on Saturday, the Assembly denounced the deadly attack which occurred during Friday prayers, leaving more than 50 worshippers martyred and over 169 others injured. The clerical body said the assault constituted a clear violation of the sanctity of human life and an open act of aggression against Islam and its sacred symbols.

The statement emphasized that targeting worshippers inside a house of God, particularly during the sacred moments of congregational prayer, reveals the complete moral and religious bankruptcy of the perpetrators. It stressed that such acts of violence have no connection whatsoever to Islam and cannot, in any form, represent its teachings.

“The religion of Islam is founded upon peace, tolerance, and respect for human dignity,” the statement read. “Terrorism, sectarian hatred, and the killing of innocent people are not only un-Islamic but also profoundly anti-human and reprehensible.”

The Assembly of Scholars and Preachers of Hyderabad, India, expressed its deep condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for patience and divine reward for them, as well as swift and complete recovery for the wounded. The statement also invoked prayers that the martyrs be granted the highest spiritual rank and be resurrected alongside the martyrs of Karbala.

The Indian clerics further called on the relevant authorities to take urgent and decisive measures, including:

  • The immediate identification, arrest, and prosecution of all perpetrators and accomplices involved in the attack;
  • The implementation of strict and effective security measures to ensure the protection of mosques and other places of worship;
  • The adoption of serious and practical strategies to combat terrorism and prevent the spread of sectarian hatred.

Concluding the statement, the Assembly reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and brotherhood among Muslims, warning that sectarian violence only serves the interests of the enemies of Islam and humanity.

“Indeed, we belong to God, and indeed, to Him we shall return.”
