Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at the interfaith conference titled “The Savior: Manifestation of Peace and Spirituality,” held at the Jamkaran Mosque complex in Qom, Charley Anviatekieh emphasized the importance of respecting the beliefs and practices of all faith communities. The event brought together senior representatives of the world’s divine religions to explore common spiritual and ethical values.
Respect and Unity Across Faiths
Anviatekieh stressed that respect for the religious convictions of others is not mere courtesy, but a moral and spiritual obligation that fosters deep bonds of empathy and understanding. “Such respect creates a foundation for meaningful interactions and collaboration across society,” he said.
The Assyrian lawmaker acknowledged that in any society there may be individuals who pursue narrow personal agendas that could unintentionally offend others. However, he emphasized that the goal of such gatherings is to rise above differences and highlight the unity and solidarity among communities.
“We are here today to demonstrate the harmony and cohesion of all Iranian communities—Muslims, Christians, Zoroastrians alike,” he said. “We share a common homeland, live under the sacred tricolor flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and can freely practice our religious rites to the fullest extent.”
Freedom of Worship and Religious Practice
Anviatekieh underscored that there are no obstacles to the performance of religious ceremonies for minorities in Iran, calling this liberty a great blessing that must be cherished and leveraged to strengthen national solidarity.
He added that the continuity of peaceful coexistence in Iran depends on sincere mutual respect and heartfelt commitment to one another. “Only through genuine affection, understanding, and reciprocal respect can we sustain a harmonious and lasting society in our homeland,” he said.
The Assyrian MP’s remarks highlighted Iran’s model of interfaith coexistence, emphasizing that diversity of faith in the country is not a source of division but a unifying element that enriches the spiritual and social fabric of the nation.
