Azerbaijani Clerics in Qom Reaffirm Allegiance to Iran's Leader

A group of Azerbaijani seminarians and clerics residing in Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to the doctrine of Wilayat al-Faqih and strongly condemned any form of insult or disrespect toward the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Hawzah News Agency- In a statement issued at the Jamkaran Mosque in the holy city of Qom, the clerics denounced recent derogatory remarks against the position of the Leader, describing such actions as contrary to Islamic ethics, rational discourse, and the collective interests of the Muslim Ummah.

The statement, released on the eve of the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), emphasized that during the era of occultation, the Islamic community is not left without guidance. Citing authoritative Shiite traditions and the consensus of leading jurists, the clerics underscored that a qualified jurist assumes the role of the Imam’s general deputy in safeguarding religion, guiding society, and preserving the dignity of Muslims.

“In this framework,” the statement read, “Ayatollah Imam Khamenei—by the testimony of senior religious authorities and through the lived experience of contemporary history—stands as the rightful deputy of Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him) and a pillar of wisdom, stability, and unity in the Islamic world.”

The clerics highlighted the Leader’s “wise and just positions,” noting that his stances have consistently upheld the rights of nations while rejecting extremism and instability. They specifically pointed to Ayatollah Khamenei’s clear and early affirmation of the Islamic identity of the Karabakh region, as well as his explicit statement on 17 Rabi al-Awwal recognizing the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan over Karabakh and calling for the liberation of occupied territories.

According to the statement, these positions played a significant role in strengthening popular unity, mobilizing spiritual support among followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and reinforcing the cause of justice in the Caucasus region.

The Azerbaijani clerics further stressed that the presence of a wise and principled leadership is a key factor in ensuring dignity for Muslims and fostering lasting stability and peace, particularly in sensitive regions such as the Caucasus.

They categorically rejected any attempts to undermine or insult the position of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, warning that such actions serve divisive agendas and align with hostile schemes targeting Islamic unity.

Declaring themselves “soldiers of Wilayat,” the signatories stated that supporting the Leader of the Islamic Revolution is a conscious, legitimate, and religious duty. “From this sacred place associated with the Imam of the Age,” the statement concluded, “we express our steadfast support for his rightful deputy and reaffirm our commitment to the path of rationality, justice, and Islamic solidarity.”

The statement ended with prayers for the health and longevity of Ayatollah Khamenei and for the hastening of the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him).
