Hawzah News Agency- Tens of thousands marched through London Saturday to protest 'Israel’s' ongoing violations of the Gaza ceasefire, which has been in effect since October 10, and the British government’s continued arms sales to Tel Aviv.
The crowd gathered at Russell Square before marching toward Whitehall, the seat of the British Prime Minister. Protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners, chanting against 'Israel' and the UK government, and called on authorities and companies to stop supporting a state accused of violating international law.
The demonstration included support from UK Labour MPs John McDonnell and Zahra Sultana, as well as British-Palestinian physician Ghassan Abu Sitta.
The protest coincides with renewed 'Israeli' airstrikes in Gaza that killed 37 Palestinians within 24 hours, continuing repeated breaches of the ceasefire. Since the agreement, 'Israeli' forces have reportedly carried out 1,450 violations, leaving 524 Palestinians dead and roughly 1,360 injured, according to Gaza’s government media office.
The ceasefire ended a two-year 'Israeli' offensive that began on October 8, 2023, which killed more than 71,000 Palestinians, injured 171,000, and destroyed 90 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure, with UN estimates putting reconstruction costs at $70 billion.
