Sri Lankan Sufi leader: Any harm to Iran will deal far greater blows to the Muslim world

A prominent Sri Lankan Islamic figure has warned that destabilizing Iran would have far-reaching consequences for the entire Muslim world, calling on Muslim nations to close ranks in the face of Western and Israeli pressure.

Hawzah News Agency- Maulavi Ibrahim Abdullah, head of the Sri Lanka Sufi Association, made the remarks during a meeting with Iran’s cultural attaché in Colombo, Ali Kobraeizadeh, where he expressed strong support for the Iranian people, the Islamic Revolution and its leadership.

Abdullah praised the steadfastness of the Iranian nation in confronting long-standing plots aimed at sowing unrest and division inside the country, stressing that Iran has played a unique and principled role in defending Muslim causes worldwide.

“In today’s world and within the Muslim Ummah, Iran has consistently stood by Muslims and defended their legitimate interests,” he said. “If Iran is harmed, the damage inflicted on the Muslim world will be far more serious. This is why Muslim nations must stand alongside the Iranian people at this critical juncture.”

He urged Muslim countries and movements to set aside internal differences and remain vigilant against attempts by the United States and Israel to exploit divisions among independent nations and Muslim societies.

US, Israel a threat to global stability

Speaking at the meeting, Iran’s cultural attaché underscored that Western powers have a long history of plundering the Muslim world and subjecting nations to pressure and domination.

“What the Zionist regime committed in Gaza would not have been possible without full American backing,” Kobraeizadeh said, adding that any Israeli aggression against Iran could not occur without a green light from Washington and its Western allies.

He described Iran’s confrontation with the US and its allies as a fundamental clash between independence and domination, rejecting Western claims that portray Iran as a threat.

“Contrary to their narrative, it is the United States and its allies who constitute a real threat to the international order,” he said. “Has Iran ever attacked another country? Meanwhile, the occupying regime has, in a short and illegitimate history, repeatedly attacked the Palestinian people and neighboring nations.”

Kobraeizadeh also pointed to Washington’s record of military interventions, citing Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries as clear examples of what he called America’s hegemonic and aggressive nature.

He concluded by stressing that the Iranian nation has repeatedly demonstrated resilience in the face of pressure and aggression and, under the leadership of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, will continue to withstand external plots and defeat hostile schemes.
