Honoring Scholars; A Strategic Necessity for Strengthening the Civilizational Future of Islamic World

The Friday Prayer Imam of Hamedan Province in Iran has considered the commemoration of great Islamic scholars as an effective step in strengthening human culture, religious identity and the civilizational future of Islamic world.

Hawzah News Agency- The Friday Prayer Imam of Hamedan Province Hojatoleslam Habibullah Shabani, in an interview with Hawzah News correspondent, emphasized the importance of honoring Islamic scholars’ and scientists, noting,” Honoring Muslim scholars and scientists is, in fact, a tribute to science, knowledge, and human cultural progress.”

The Friday Imam of Hamedan further added,” It is more important to honor great scholars as the late Mirza Naeini, who, on the one hand, had a distinguished character in jurisprudence and the Islamic Seminary, and on the other hand, had a special character and a deep concern for contemporary, societal problems, and the future problems of the Islamic world, the enemy's plans for the future Muslims, and the late cleric played a role in addressing these threats.”

Hojatoleslam Habibullah Shabani, referring to the position of scholars in Islamic narrations, added,” In Islamic narrations, scholars are introduced as the guardians of society; who are always the protectors of the intellectual, and cultural boundaries of, the Muslim world; Mirza Naeini was among these characters who played a significant role in history of Fiqh, the history of Fatwa, the valuable theory of Velayat-e Faqih, and even one could say in history of modern Fiqh and the Islamic Revolution.”

The cleric further emphasized the responsibility of religious schools in preserving their scientific heritage saying,” It is expected that the seminary schools preserve the Muslim scholars’ heritage and these roots in jurisprudence, science, and knowledge in order to identify and recognize them, and introduce them to today's scientific world.”

Hojatoleslam Shabani continued,” What this congress is trying to achieve, whether in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala, or other regions, is to introduce the legacy of great Islamic thinkers.”
