Hawzah News Agency- In his message, Imam Khamenei described Soleimani as "the international figure of the resistance'', asserting that "all those who cherish resistance will avenge him," and indicating that "severe retribution against the criminals" is inevitable.
The message reads: "The great and towering banner of Islam has ascended to the heavens. Last night, the pure soul of Qassem Soleimani embraced the noble souls of the martyrs. Years of sincere and courageous struggle in the arenas of confronting the devils and evildoers of the world, and years of yearning for martyrdom in the path of God, have finally brought our dear Soleimani to this exalted station, as his pure blood was spilled by the most wretched of humankind''.
Imam Khamenei declared three days of national mourning in Iran, offering his "deepest condolences" to Soleimani's family, children, and relatives, and praising his martyred comrades, especially Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
He added: "He was a shining example of those who draw from the wellspring of Islam and the school of Imam Khomeini. He spent most of his life striving in the path of God. Martyrdom was the reward for his tireless efforts throughout all these years. His work and path will not cease with his passing, by God's will and power, nor will it reach a dead end. Rather, severe retribution awaits the criminals whose filthy hands are stained with his blood and the blood of all the martyrs of this incident''.
