Hawzah News Agency- Hassan al-Abadi, responding to statements by certain political and social movements advocating the disarming of resistance factions, said that raising these issues amounts to ignoring the real and persistent threats facing the region and its nations. He emphasized that such calls are fundamentally incompatible with on-the-ground realities and the ongoing security challenges.
Al-Abadi underlined that the resistance continues to view itself as one of the main pillars of what is known as the Islamic Resistance Axis, adding that it will never accept any attempt—whether political, media-driven, or external—to weaken its defensive strength.
Stressing the central role of weapons in defending the homeland and safeguarding national dignity, he said no individual, movement, or institution has the authority to force the resistance to surrender or abandon its arms. According to al-Abadi, decisions regarding the fate of defensive equipment are made exclusively within the resistance’s own internal, ideological, and strategic frameworks.
The cultural representative further noted that the resistance’s stance on preserving and using weapons is firm and unchanging. Any attempt to forcibly disarm resistance groups, he warned, runs counter to national interests and undermines collective security.
Al-Abadi rejected portrayals of the resistance’s weapons as instruments of violence, describing them instead as a guarantee for defending the nation and preserving the dignity of the people. “This issue constitutes a red line for us,” he said, adding that the resistance will not compromise on its right to self-defense.
Addressing allegations related to the purchase or accumulation of weapons by other actors, al-Abadi explained that such discussions merely reflect the resistance’s opposition to external impositions and efforts to control or dictate its defensive capabilities. He stressed that these claims do not signal any shift in the resistance’s principled or strategic position.
He concluded by reiterating that the resistance remains committed to defending Iraq’s sovereignty and security, and will continue to resist any pressure aimed at weakening its role in confronting threats to the nation and the wider region.
