Hawzah News Agency- Organisers say the rallies aim to expose the role of European and Western institutions in sustaining Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, now in its third year. The group has accused the European Union and national governments of complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, citing their continued arms exports, political backing and economic ties.
According to organisers, the coordinated actions are a response to Israel’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement and the failure of the international community to deliver the promised scale of humanitarian relief to Palestinians in Gaza.
While world leaders have pledged support, only a fraction of the required aid has reached the besieged enclave, where over 69,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023.
The group says governments across Europe and North America have abdicated their responsibility to protect civilians and uphold international law. The group argues that with governments failing to guarantee sufficient aid or uphold international law, civil society mobilisation has become essential. It points to initiatives like the Global Sumud Flotilla as necessary steps to break the siege and secure humanitarian corridors.
The mobilisation marks a growing global backlash to Israel’s genocide and the support it continues to receive from Western allies. It also reflects mounting public frustration with political inaction as evidence of genocide accumulates and institutions such as the International Court of Justice (ICJ) investigate Israel’s conduct.
