Hawzah News Agency- Thousands gathered in Ghobeiry for the farewell procession before the cortege moved toward Rawdat Al-Shuhadaa (Martyrs’ graveyard). The turnout reflected public appreciation for Sayyed Tabtabai’s long record in frontline operations and his role in confronting the Israeli occupation until the final moments of his life.
Crowds received the sacred coffins amid renewed pledges, from participants and Hezbollah representatives alike, to uphold what they described as the path of resistance and continued confrontation with the Israeli enemy.
Earlier on Monday, Hezbollah issued an official statement praising Sayyed Tabtabai’s major sacrifices in defense of Lebanon and its people, highlighting his years of unwavering commitment to the movement’s military track.
Sheikh Ali Daamoush, head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, honored Martyr Sayyed Tabtabai during the funeral, calling him “a man of the field and one of the architects of the resistance’s early operations''. He said the movement had lost “a central strategist” whose contributions shaped key battles over more than three decades.
Sheikh Daamoush stressed that Sayyed Tabtabai spent over 35 years in resistance operations and was among the first commanders to plan and oversee the “early decisive confrontations” that, according to Hezbollah, broke Israeli ground offensives. He also pointed to Martyred Commander Sayyed Tabtabai’s post-war role in leadership, planning, and strategic development.
“The Israeli enemy has repeatedly miscalculated in assuming that assassinating commanders would weaken Hezbollah. Such losses only reinforce the movement’s resolve. This strike was a grave mistake that would leave the Israeli occupation entity on alert ahead of the inevitable response'', Sheikh Daamoush asserted.
His Eminence emphasized that all the concessions made by the Lebanese government have been fruitless.
Sheikh Daamoush affirmed the commitment to the martyrs to continue the path of resistance and uphold their heroic legacy, stating, “We will complete what you started, and we will remain in the field defending Lebanon and the nation''.
