Ayatollah Rajabi: True Human Growth Lies in Faith and Righteous Deeds

Senior Iranian scholar Ayatollah Mahmoud Rajabi, head of the Imam Khomeini (RA) Education and Research Institute, has said that humanity achieves perfection only through faith, righteous deeds, and true knowledge.

Hawzah News Agency- Delivering his weekly ethics lesson, organized by the Shabab al-Muqaddafa World Front, Ayatollah Rajabi emphasized that knowledge is among the most strategic divine blessings, shaping human behavior and guiding people toward perfection.

“Humans possess a level of awareness that can elevate them to the highest ranks of existence,” he said, adding that all creatures have a form of consciousness and glorify God, but only human beings are endowed with transcendent understanding.

The Qom Seminary professor distinguished between innate and acquired knowledge, stressing that true spiritual growth occurs “in the shadow of faith and righteous deeds.” Citing the Qur’an, he reminded that God has granted humans “ears, eyes, and hearts” to perceive truth and express gratitude.

Referring to a hadith, Ayatollah Rajabi explained that those who use their faculties in obedience to God can reach the rank of Khalifa of Allah (Divine Vicegerent):

“If a servant obeys God sincerely, He will make him like Himself — living, enriched, and steadfast.”

He warned, however, against the danger of false knowledge, saying that Satan seeks to mislead humanity through distorted understanding.
“Those deprived of true knowledge,” he said, “will wander in circles like a donkey tied to a millstone.”

Ayatollah Rajabi concluded that genuine knowledge, rooted in faith and gratitude, is the only path that leads humans from mere awareness to divine nearness and eternal perfection.
