Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a meeting with guests of the International Congress of Mirza Naeini (RA), Abbasi highlighted the historic role of Islamic seminaries in cultivating influential scholars and thinkers, calling Ayatollah Mirza Naeini “a source of pride for the Shiite world and an enduring symbol of intellectual resistance.”
He introduced Al-Mustafa International University as an extension of the Islamic seminary in the international arena, explaining that it was established after the Islamic Revolution in response to the growing interest of youth from around the world in Islamic studies. Hojatoleslam Abbasi noted that tens of thousands of scholars from more than 130 nationalities have studied at Al-Mustafa, realizing the long-standing vision of spreading the teachings of Islam and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) globally.
Highlighting the university’s international reach, he said Al-Mustafa is a member of several prominent academic and religious organizations and has signed over 400 memorandums of understanding with universities and research centers worldwide — including collaborations with non-Muslim institutions such as Yunnan University in China.
Abbasi stressed that despite notable progress, more efforts are needed to advance the intellectual and spiritual discourse of Islam on the world stage, emphasizing that the seminaries must continue to play a pioneering role in this mission.
Commenting on global ideological developments, the member of the Iranian Assembly of Experts said the world is witnessing a civilizational alignment, where Western material civilization seeks to impose a single worldview and suppress alternative discourses. He asserted that the only true alternative to Western domination is pure Islam as interpreted by the Ahl al-Bayt, championed today by the Islamic Revolution.
Abbasi concluded that the root cause of Western hostility toward Islam lies in this civilizational rivalry, adding that even the prime minister of the “child-killing Zionist regime” has admitted that the regime serves as the vanguard of Western material and arrogant civilization.
“This is not merely a political or military confrontation,” he said. “It is a deep civilizational struggle — one that has intensified in our time and must be strategically recognized.”
