Turkish Alawite Leaders Meet AQR Deputy to Strengthen Religious and Cultural Ties in Mashhad

Mashhad, Iran — A delegation of Alawite leaders from 12 provinces across the Republic of Turkey recently met with Hujjat al-Islam Mostafa Faqih Esfandiari, Deputy for International Affairs of Astan Quds Razavi, to discuss enhancing religious, cultural, and educational cooperation between their communities.

Hawzah News Agency- During the meeting, Hujjat al-Islam Faqih Esfandiari addressed the delegation on the ongoing challenges posed by US-Israeli conspiracies in the region and reflected on the complex dynamics affecting Alawite communities. Emphasizing the importance of religious education, he recommended that children of Alawite leaders spend time studying in the holy cities of Mashhad or Qom to deepen their religious knowledge. “Such an initiative would foster positive change within the Alawite sect upon their return to Turkey,” he noted.

Furthermore, Hujjat al-Islam Faqih Esfandiari proposed providing accommodations and establishing residential centers for Alawite visitors near the Imam Reza Shrine to facilitate their spiritual and cultural engagement.

The Turkish Alawite leaders highlighted the deep historical and religious connections between the peoples of Anatolia and Khorasan. They underscored that Khorasan has been a significant origin and migration route for religious scholars and preachers who helped spread the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH) in Anatolia.

Both parties reaffirmed the special reverence Anatolian people hold for Khorasan and Imam Reza (PBUH), as well as the respect Alawite Muslims have for the family of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The meeting concluded with the Turkish Alawite leaders expressing their sincere appreciation to the International Affairs Department of Astan Quds Razavi for their warm hospitality, and they were honored with the presentation of a blessed flag of Imam Reza (PBUH).
