Hawzah News Agency- Javanmardi secured the gold medal in the P2 10m air pistol SH1 event at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris.

On Saturday, the 39-year-old, who previously won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, scored 236.8 points to claim first place. Turkish shooter Aysel Ozgan earned the silver medal with 231.1 points, while Indian athlete Rubina Francis took the bronze with a total of 211.1 points.

Right after winning her final match, she kissed a copy of the Holy Quran before thanking God with a prostration on Iran’s flag.

The head of Iran’s Dar-ol-Quran released a statement, praising the athlete’s action in honoring the Holy Quran.

“It is a source of pride and honor that a Muslim woman shines in such a position, and in the peak of her brilliance, she displays the Holy Quran as the flag of her humanity alongside her national flag for the world to see,” Hujjat al-Islam Ali Taqizadeh wrote in a Sunday statement.

“The symbolic act of this deserving national hero demonstrated that, in an environment where Satan and his forces have relentlessly targeted women and family, aiming to deprive women of the blessings of motherhood, wifehood, and the tranquility of family life through deceptive slogans, the upbringing of such individuals is truly a blessing of the Book of God; a book that continues to clothe both body and soul in the garment of piety, adorning her humanity and heroism in the eyes of onlookers rather than focusing on her physicality or gender,” he added.
