The Head of Iran’s seminaries Ayatollah Arafi said, “In order to establish a sound jurisprudential and legal counsel for women, some important steps need to be taken at the beginning of the process."

Hawzah News Agency- Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, the head of Iran’s seminaries had a meeting with Iranian Vice president for women and family affairs which was held in the headquarters of the Qom seminary, on July 28.

During the meeting Ayatollah Arafi pointed out the importance of setting up a specific women's jurisprudential and legal counsel and added, “With regard to Islamic Jurisprudence, the Seminary’s office of contemporary jurisprudence in the new era has been established with the approach of examining new topics, and many of these topics are included in the textbooks of the seminary today and are being studied.”

The jurist member of Iran’s Guardian Council further continued, "In order to be able to enter the establishment of the Women's Jurisprudence and Legal Counsel in a wise and careful manner, it requires scientific working groups according to the issues raised by the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs."

“It is proposed that such center should be formed so that the issues are carefully, thoroughly and wisely examined in order to approach the required goal.” He added.

Ayatollah Arafi went on to say, "Considering the current needs of society, I do believe we can start the process in three steps, first; 10-20 research topics should be presented so that the seminary can take the necessary measures for it. Another is to form two or three scientific groups to discuss and exchange views on the required topics so that a suitable output can be provided and finally a council will be established in the seminary, consisting of seminary teachers and experts; such center should also be formed to achieve what is needed through synergy and scientific interaction.”

The member of the Supreme Council of seminaries Ayatollah Arafi concluded, "These are three longitudinal layers through which we can achieve what is needed in the society regarding the women issues."
