Hawzah News Agency - Addressing a ceremony held at the center to commemorate the two martyrs, and senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Taqi Mesbah Yazdi who recently passed away, Hojat-ol-Islam Abdul Majid Hakim Elahi also highlighted the popularity of Martyr Soleimani and Al-Muhandis among the people of Iran and Iraq, noting that millions of people attended their funerals.
He also described Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi as an exceptional Muslim philosopher who authored many books in the fields of philosophy and Islamic sciences.
Lieutenant General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and his Iraqi trenchmate al-Muhandis, the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Units, were assassinated along with their companions in a US terror drone strike authorized by Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
Both commanders were admired by Muslim nations for their role in eliminating the US-sponsored Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.
Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi, who was a member of the Assembly of Experts, died at a hospital in Tehran on January 1 at the age of 86 due to gastrointestinal disease.
