AQR to turn holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) into a hub of innovation

Mohammad Mahdi Baradaran, the senior director of the holy shrine, explained the details of the programs saying, “Imam Reza (AS) is believed to be the learned offspring of the Prophet’s household.

Hawzah News Agency - Astan Quds Razavi has plans to turn the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) into a center of creativity, innovation and support for ideas and knowledge-based companies.

Mohammad Mahdi Baradaran, the senior director of the holy shrine, explained the details of the programs saying, “Imam Reza (AS) is believed to be the learned offspring of the Prophet’s household. Therefore, we have based our work in managing this establishment on science not only in Mashhad and Iran, but also in the whole world.”

This project will be implemented with the participation of the servants and scientific assistants of the holy shrine during which the officials will try to use the modern science and technology to provide better services in the field of pilgrimage, and meet the research needs of the holy shrine.

“One platform is inviting scientific elite to use their capacity for existing issues, but another platform in which there is an opportunity for public participation, is the possibility of registering in the servant assistance system and selecting ‘innovation patrols’ through which scientists can have opportunity to participate in scientific circles. In this regard, with the anticipation of 40 different areas for innovation, 8 thematic areas have been designed in the form of 8 innovation patrols,” he said.

According to him, one of the issues was that how artificial intelligence can be used to manage coronavirus restrictions and instantly observe social distancing and the number of pilgrims in each.

Intelligent distribution of food, the possibility of washing the dome and minarets with the help of robots, and many other technological ideas in this area will be studied by the help of innovation servants. In addition, this network will not be limited to specific issues, and interested people from all over the world can submit their proposals to the senior management of the holy shrine.

“Along with invitees and registrants, there is the chance for everyone to participate in coming up with an idea or scientific solution anywhere in the country and the world,” he remarked.
