Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – In a meeting with secretariat members of the International Congress on the Role of the Shia in the Advent and Advancement of Islamic Sciences in Qom, senior Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi asserted, “ Nowadays we need to defend Shia rights and doctrine through publishing cultural and scientific works. “

Pointing out some of the greatest effects of holding such international congress on Shia role in Islamic Sciences, Grand Ayatollah added, “Today, we must make effort to inform the world about the role of Shia Islam in developing sciences. We must introduce the world to true identity of Shia and Shia contribution to modern science.”

Addressing the secretary members of the congress, senior cleric added, “In order to continue holding this international event, you need to establish a permanent secretariat for this congress and try to organize the received articles based on their field, topic and scientific value.”

In the end, Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi highlighted the significant role of Najaf seminary adding, “In order to hold the Shia congress with the best possible outcome, you can also cooperate with the seminary of Najaf to bring their great potential and scientific capabilities to this congress.”

The Chairman of Shia Congress Hujjat al-Islam Rezayi Esfahani also presented a brief report on the secretariat’s activities prior to the congress.
