Hawzah News Agency (Najaf, Iraq) – Several groups of Shia Muslims, the Pakistani ambassador to Iraq as well as a group of Shia scholars separately met with senior Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi in his office in the city of Najaf, Iraq on Sunday.
Enemies out to divide Iraq
In a meeting with Shia Muslims from Basra, the senior cleric asserted, "The enemies of Islam and Iraq are seeking to divide Iraq and undermine people's beliefs; they are plotting to distract people from following the right path and to influence them with false thoughts."
"During last decades, Iraqis have made lots of mistakes regarding politics and therefore, we must make serious attempts to make up for our previous mistakes."
The enemy is seeking to undermine genuine Islam
In another meeting with a group of Iraqi popular mobilization forces, the Shia source of emulation remarked, "The victories of military and the popular mobilization forces over ISIS (or Daesh) terrorists are along the lines of victory of Karbala and Imam Hussein (as)."
He added, "The enemies of Islam and Iraq are out to tarnish the image of genuine Islam and to distract Muslims from the right path of religion."
