Analyst: Pro-Zionist lobbies against peace in Palestine

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has declared the Old City of al-Khalil (Hebron) a protected heritage site. The move has enraged the Tel Aviv regime because the Israelis do not want to recognize Palestinians’ right to their own heritage and territory. To discuss the issue, Press TV has interviewed Jim W. Dean, managing editor and columnist at the Veterans Today from Atlanta, and Brent Budowsky, a columnist of The Hill from Washington.

Hawzah News Agency - Dean said lobbying groups, which are seeking to exert influence on Israeli and US officials, want the prolongation of conflict in Palestine.

Many in the United States and Israel oppose war and destruction, but there are small groups of American and Israeli deep state people who “like not having peace,” the analyst said on Friday night.

The pro-Zionist lobbies are promoting warmongering policies, because they could gain a lot of power as a result of “having a perpetual state of war,” he argued.

So, he noted, “the good-minded people don’t have power and they have not been able to take power, because they don’t have the muscle and the will and even the understanding of who they’re really up against.”

Since people have no power and clue to change the trend and put pressure on the Tel Aviv regime to stop occupation and massacre in Palestine, the Israelis do whatever they want, he noted.

Referring to the role of the United States in persuading Israel to stop violence against the Palestinian people, Dean said, Israelis “never want to give up control of [the Palestinian] territory unless one power that can

make them do so decides to do it and that is America.”

The United States’ support for Israel has allowed the Zionists to get away with their occupation of Palestinian territories and heritage, he explained.

According to the commentator, the recent UNESCO resolution shows that the international community is recognizing Palestinians’ statehood when the whole focus of the Israelis and their American supporters has been

doing damage to Palestinian heritage.

Budowsky, the other panelist on the show, pointed to the role of US President Donald Trump could play in persuading Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept real peace with Palestinians.

The columnist also said, “What we have to have is the kind of negotiation and the kind of solution that is diplomatic, that is political, that stops killing on all sides, [and] that gives the Palestinians a state.”

The Israelis need to choose between land and peace, Budowsky said, stressing that the Muslims, the Christians and the Jews were all created by the same God and they should have the right to descent life and liberty
