"Hijab is not exclusive to Muslims"

"According to Islamic principles, hijab (veil) is not only limited to Muslims; it is considered as a universal issue which helps maintain the boundary between men and women and protect their dignity in societies." said Ayatollah Alavi Gorgani.

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – In a meeting with a group of Students from German universities in Qom on Sunday, Ayatollah Alavi Gorgani, a top Shia cleric, referred to a Quranic verse saying, "Observing hijab is among the most highly emphasized Quranic guidelines."

 

The Shia cleric then advised the students to promote the concept of hijab in European countries and asked them to introduce the beauties of hijab to women in the West. "Piety and hijab have a direct relationship and maintaining one leads to strengthening another."

 

 

The renowned seminary lecturer stressed that the value of hijab must be appreciated in the Western societies and addressed the university students present in the meeting saying, "By observing hijab, you have freed yourselves in the safe ocean of piety and modesty, this is very significant."
