Hamas spokesman hails Palestine conference in Iran

The spokesman for the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, praised the recent conference on Palestine in Tehran and said the international event raised the Palestinian issue again and made it a top priority.

Hawzah News Agency - Hamas Spokesman Sami Abou Zahri said that “under the shadow of some retreats from the Palestinian cause” in the Middle East region, the Tehran conference provided a good opportunity to turn the Palestinian issue into a top priority once again.

The main message of the conference was to underline the anti-Israeli resistance as a strategic option to liberate Palestine and the need to create mechanisms to support the resistance, he noted.

The spokesman further said he believes that the conference has been successful in reaching its objectives and highlighted the importance of the Palestinian issue.

The 6th International Conference on Palestinian Intifada was held in Tehran last month with around 700 foreign officials and intellectuals, including 18 parliament speakers, in attendance.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei was the keynote speaker at the opening session of the gathering.

In his speech, Imam Khamenei said the third Palestinian intifada (uprising) will begin a very important chapter in the history of the Palestinian nation's struggle and will inflict another defeat on the Zionist regime of

Israel.

In recent years, the concept of resistance has attracted a great deal of attention across the Muslim world.

It refers mainly to the courage and fortitude shown by the people of Palestine, who have withstood Israel’s crimes for years.
