Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – In a meeting with a group of students in Qom on Monday, March 6, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, a Shia source of emulation, made some remarks regarding parents’ rights and duties in Islam saying, “both parents and children are entitled to certain rights in the family; they must observe such rights in order to sustain healthy relationships within their families.”
The Shia source of emulation added, “Human beings are trained in their family, school or community; should all of these social units succeed to carry out their role effectively, the conditions for educating people according to Islamic principles are properly met.”
“Among Children’s primary rights on their parents is their entitlement to be given a decent name, learning to recite Quran as well as being trained based on Islamic teachings.” Hawzah quoted ayatollah Makarem as saying.
In the end, Grand Ayatollah Makarem concluded, “The best way to carry out the Islamic tradition of promotion of virtue and prevention of vice in society is to do it in a respectful and decent manner.”
