" Preserving the environment a religious obligation"

"Preserving our environment is on a par with protecting our human dignity; therefore, it's only rational to protect our environment as religious and social duty." said Grand Ayatollah Wahid.

Hawzah News Agency- (Qom, Iran) – Grand Ayatollah Hussein Wahid Khorasani, a Shia source of emulation received Masoumeh Ebtekar, Vice President of Iran and head of Environmental Protection Organization, in his office in Qom on Tuesday, February 7.

 

During the meeting, the grand ayatollah reiterated that mankind has two forms of lives, physical and spiritual. He said, "This environment that we live in does not only belong to us; According to our religious teachings, we need to protect our environment the same way it's essential to preserve our spiritual aspect of lives as well." Hawzah reported.

 

He added, "Preserving our environment is on a par with protecting our human dignity; therefore, it's only rational to protect our environment as religious and social duty."

 

Advising the Iranian officials, Grand Ayatollah Wahid referred to a narration by Prophet Muhammad (sawa) in which he recommended people to recite Quran and said, "The words of Allah illuminate our hearts. Reciting Quran vitalizes human spirit as a spring breeze freshens the nature. I advise you to recite as much Quran as you can and offer its blessings to Imam al-Asr (May Allah hasten his reappearance); be sure that his eminence will help you in times of trouble."
