Hawzah News Agency (Iraq, Kirkuk)-A doctor working for the ISIS was killed on Sunday an airstrike by international coalition jets on southwest Kirkuk, a security source told.
Islam Taha al-Obeidi, aka Dr. Muawiya, was killed along with four aides in central Haiwija in an airstrike by fighter jets from the US-led military coalition backing Iraqi government forces against Islamic State militants.
DPA quoted the security source as saying that Obeidi was senior frontline IS member who was in charge of handling wounded group commanders.
IS are still holding minor strongholds in southwest Kirkuk and a few other Iraqi cities that are awaiting the launch of security operations for their liberation. But their most outstanding stronghold is the city of Mosul, where they have been sustaining losses among senior leaderships and fighters in a security campaign running since mid October to retake the city occupied by the extremist group since 2014. Government and military officials say they retook almost a half of Mosul and hope to recapture the whole city within weeks.
