Canada hosts 12th North American Quran Competition

The 12th edition of the annual North American Quran Competition will be held in Toronto, Canada. Recitation from memory, Naazira and memorization of the Holy Quran at different levels and for different age groups are the categories of this year’s contest.

Hawzah News Agency (Toronto, Canada) - The Islamic Foundation of Toronto is planned to host the Quranic event separately for girls and boys.

The girls’ competition is slated for February 25 and boys will compete for the top prizes on March 10-12, according to qiraatcompetition website.

A pretest for the contest has already been held and the names of those who have made it to the main stage have been announced by the foundation.

Recitation from memory, Naazira (recitation while looking in the Mus’haf) and memorization of the Holy Quran at different levels and for different age groups are the categories of this year’s contest.

All participants will be also tested on memorization and recitation according to the rules of Tajweed.
