Hawzah News Agency- In an interview with Hawzah News, Dr Abd al-Wahhab Forati, an Iranian political analyst, elaborated on his views on the current conditions in the Western Asia, particularly in Iraq and Syria, saying, “The condition of ISIS in Iraq is different than in Syria; That’s because for the past couple of years the excess of ISIS forces have been present in Iraq and since day one, those governments sponsoring ISIS terrorists did not aim to spread this war into Iraq,”
“The issue of Syria has turned into a complex equation in which multiple parties and countries are involved; however, the Syrian clashes have grown into attrition warfare,” he added.
Faculty member of the Islamic Culture and Thought Research Institute further asserted, “ Considering the recent victories of the Islamic Resistance it seems likely that ISIS territorial caliphate will sooner or later be terminated; but their ideology will probably last longer and remain,”
In the end, Dr Forati concluded, “Apparently, the U.S. strategy on ISIS is similar to their plan for Taliban; that is, they destroyed Taliban in Afghanistan and decreased its influence as the main source of power in the country, but they kept Taliban alive to serve as an intruding force in the developments in Western Asia and it seems likely that the U.S. would administer the same policy about ISIS,”
End.
