Ayatollah Khamenei

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Sunday morning with the members of the Supreme Council of Islamic seminaries. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence stated that Islamic seminaries are inseparable from the Islamic government.

Hawzah News Agency-The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed the Islamic government’s need for well-informed, knowledgeable, dynamic and up-to-date Islamic seminaries with the purpose of promoting Islamic teachings and rules in different areas of life and in society, saying: “In current circumstances, one of the important needs of Islamic seminaries is preparing a transformation plan and formulating long-term and exact plans with a specific timetable on the basis of this plan and pre-defined goals.”

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that the plans of Islamic seminaries in different areas – particularly in the area of student affairs, implementation and governmental issues – should be formulated with the goal of supporting and nurturing the relationship between Islamic seminaries and the Islamic Republic. He added: “Islamic seminaries are a source of support for implementing Islamic rules. Therefore, if the Islamic government implements Islamic rules in a satisfactory way, Islamic seminaries should support it with all their power and if the Islamic government makes a mistake, they should issue warnings.”

His Eminence mentioned that the existence of long-term plans for Islamic seminaries is an absolute necessity, stating: “When formulating these plans, goals should be completely clear and accessible and they should have a specific timetable in a way that plans are measurable, quantitative and flexible.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that these plans should be based on the transformation plan of Islamic seminaries and added: “There should be a strategic studies center which is comprised of intelligent and knowledgeable personalities in Islamic seminaries so that the transformation plan and other strategic plans are prepared in that center.”

At the end of his statements, His Eminence offered some words of advice to Islamic seminaries: “Avoiding quasi-governmental bureaucracy, organizing meetings between the managers of Islamic seminaries and the seminarians, encouraging the clergy to establish a close relationship with the Holy Quran, identifying geniuses, promoting the value of studying particularly studies on the historical development of tafsir and the history of sciences in Islamic seminaries, and educating promoters - who are skilled at writing and speaking and also promoters who are familiar with cyberspace - are points that should receive attention in Islamic seminaries.”
