Hawzah News Agency-Israeli media reported that the incident occurred at around 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT) on Sunday, September 18 near the entrance to Efrat settlement, located 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) south of Jerusalem al-Quds.
The reports said a Palestinian man, believed to be nearly 30 years old, stabbed a 22-year-old Israeli trooper “near the armpit.”
Israeli soldiers at the scene then opened fire in response. An unnamed Israeli medical official said the Palestinian man was moderately injured.
On Saturday morning, a Palestinian youth was shot dead after conducting a stabbing attack at a security checkpoint near the Tel Rumeida neighborhood in the West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron), located 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Jerusalem al-Quds.
The development came only a day after a Palestinian man was shot and killed over an alleged stabbing attack in the same southern West Bank city.
