Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a phone call with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres reiterated Iran approach to support a political solution in Yemen.

Hawzah News Agency –Referring to the situation in Yemen and the escalation of attacks on residential areas, Amir Abdollahian stressed Iran's approach to support a political solution to end war in Yemen.

Pointing to the UN approach to end the humanitarian siege, the realization of the ceasefire and holding political talks in Yemen, he urged the UN Secretary-General to play a greater role in ending the humanitarian blockade and stopping the widespread bombing of the residential areas.

He stressed the need to pay special attention to the humanitarian crisis and the situation of Afghan refugees, saying: "During the last few months, Iran has hosted about eight hundred thousand new refugees from Afghanistan, an issue that requires serious global attention and participation."

He underlined establishing an inclusive government in Afghanistan and the Iran readiness to facilitate rendering humanitarian aid to countries and the international community through Iran.

Touching upon Vienna Talks on lifting sanctions, Amir Abdollahian termed the negotiation process as positive and reiterated Iran serious determination to reach a good agreement as soon as possible.

Emphasizing lack of trust in the White House rulers, he stressed the need for practical, tangible, and verifiable action by the West and the United States to prove a lasting and credible agreement.

Meanwhile, Guterres appreciated the constructive positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the process of peace, ending military strikes, paying attention to humanitarian issues and initiating political talks to resolve issues and problems in Yemen.

He also stressed the need to continue efforts to form an inclusive government consisting of different ethnic groups in Afghanistan, as well as to create suitable conditions for all Afghan citizens, especially women and children, to enjoy human rights and access to education.

He welcomed any progress made in the nuclear talks and lifting sanctions in Vienna, saying that the United Nations had always been committed to achieving a nuclear agreement and international peace.
