Some 66m books in 40 years place Behnashr

As an active member of country’s cultural arena, Astan Quds Razavi is leading a prominent printing industry which has contributed to different religious, cultural and scientific fields.

Hawzah News AgencyHossein Saeedi, the CEO of Publishing Institute (Behnashr) of Astan Quds Razavi, in a press conference on the occasion of the “Book, Library and Librarian” week stated that before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, AQR had published only 27 books, and from 1957 to 1999, the number has reached 14,850 titles.

Informing that Behnashr has published its share of 6,172 titles in 26 million copies, he said AQR printing arm is creating a complete chain from content production to distribution, which is rare in the industry. “Every year, more than 30 million people read works published by this institute.”

According to him, most of the printed works focus on such themes as Islamic education and lifestyle. “In this regard, 160 works on the values of the guardianship system and the discourse of the Islamic Revolution, as well as 200 works focusing on the tradition and manners of the Infallible Imams (AS) have been published.”

Elsewhere, he pointed to evolutionary approaches in recent years, including an active presence in the field of electronic publishing, production of e-book applications, and provision of audiobooks, development of international activities, and publication of 86 children’s books in various languages, as some of the institute’s achievements which have placed Behnashr among the top 7 publishers in the country.

“Encouraging and honoring the authors, boosting transparency of copyright law, paying attention to international publishing, as well as promoting the culture of book-reading in the society in cooperation with Iran’s national TV (IRIB), are some of our priorities in this field,” he commented.
