Social Cultural Foundation of Afghans living in the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement condemning the terrorist attack on the Imam Zaman (PBUH) mosque in Herat.

Hawzah News Agency- the social cultural foundation of Afghans living in the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement condemning the terrorist attack on Imam Zaman (PBUH) mosque in Herat.

In the name of God

With extreme regret and sadness, we were informed that last night, during Maghrib and Isha prayers, evil criminals carried out a brutal terrorist attack on Imam Zaman Mosque in Muhammadiyah town, block 5, west of the industrial town of Gozrah district, Herat province, during which the imam of the congregation and seven of the worshipers, both women and children, were martyred and a number of others were injured.

This foundation, while expressing its deep sympathy with the bereaved families of the martyrs of this terrorist incident, especially the family of the late imam of this mosque, Hujjat al-Islam Shahid Javid, expresses its condolences to the honorable nation of Afghanistan and asks God Almighty for the martyrs of this unfortunate tragedy higher ranks and complete recovery for the injured.

Also, we ask Almighty God for patience and great reward for the oppressed nation of Afghanistan, especially the families of the martyrs, and we hope that the perpetrators of this horrible crime will be punished for their shameful deeds.

It should be noted that unknown armed men attacked the Imam Zaman Mosque in Gozrah District’s Andisheh town in Herat, located in western Afghanistan.

At least seven worshipers, including the prayer leader of the mosque, 2 women and a child were martyred and a number of others injured as a result of the attack that took place during the evening (between Maghrib and Isha) prayers.

No further details have been published so far. The caretaker Taliban government has also not commented on the attack.

Also, no individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.

Meanwhile, Iran’s embassy in Kabul in a statement strongly condemned a “terrorist attack” on a Shia Mosque in Herat Province.
