Green Lane mosque in Birmingham reaches finals of British Muslim Awards 2020

It's the eighth year of the awards, which recognise achievements from individuals and organisations in business, charity, sport, arts, culture, religious advocacy, education and medicine.

Hawzah News Agency (Birmingham - UK) - A Birmingham mosque has been nominated for a top accolade in the British Muslim Awards 2020.

Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre has reached the finals.

The place of worship, in Small Heath, is up for the Masjid of the Year award.

The winners will be announced in Manchester on Friday, January 31.

It's the eighth year of the awards, which recognise achievements from individuals and organisations in business, charity, sport, arts, culture, religious advocacy, education and medicine.

GLMCC has been nominated for its commitment to the community.

Its services include educational classes, a Winter Freeze Project to help the homeless, a food bank, counselling and youth clubs.

Chair of Trustees Mohammed Saeed said: "To be nominated as finalists for the British Muslim Awards, is humbling.

"Our appreciation is to Allah the Almighty, we seek His acceptance and protection in our work."

The awards showcase the strength of the British Muslim community, their impact on our culture and achievements over the last year.
