Chairman of Indonesian Advisory Council

Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Council of Indonesia expressed his willingness to expand cooperation between Iranian and Indonesian Scholars in order to strengthen the Unity of Islamic Ummah. “We are going to arrange a meeting between your Iranian and Indonesian Muslim scholars to engage in dialogues.“

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) - Zulfi K. Hassan met with Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, a senior Shia cleric, in Qom on Tuesday, December 6.

During the meeting, the Indonesian official thanked Ayatollah Makarem for receiving him and his accompanying delegation to Imam al-Sajjad Seminary school and said, “I’ve already met with Iran’s president as well as the Chairman of parliament since I arrived in Iran; I’m presently in Qom to hold meetings with some prominent religious scholars here.”

He went on, “We have so many followers in Indonesia and attempt to stay united with Muslims and do not cause any conflict with them. The reason behind this unity and solidarity among Indonesians is the presence of Shia Muslims as well as representatives of other minorities among the members of Indonesian parliament,”

“We’re working hard to resolve the existing problems in Indonesia and we’ve also organized some conferences on Shi’ism in our country in which several Iranian representatives participated. We are going to arrange a meeting between your eminence and Indonesian Muslim scholars to engage in dialogues,” K. Hassan addressed Grand Ayatollah Makarem.

In the end, the Indonesian senior official stated, “There are some traditional movements in Indonesia that have moderate views on religion, but we also have some small minorities who practice extremist views and we don’t deny their existence in our country; however, the mainstream Muslims in Indonesia hold moderate religious views and we’re doing our best to establish cooperation between Iranian and Indonesian religious scholars.”

End.
