“Arbaeen provide a chance for Muslims to reaffirm their faith and adherence to Prophet Muhammad (sawa) whose grandson was martyred in Karbala,” said Grand Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi.

Hawzah News Agency- Simultaneously with Arbaeen rituals which mark the 40th day after Imam Hussain’s (as) martyrdom on the day of Ashura, multitudes of Shia pilgrims have gathered in Iraq to make their Arbaeen walk towards Karbala; during these ceremonies a group of Shia Muslims from Iraq and other Islamic nations met with Grand Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi, a senior Shia source of emulation.

During the meeting, the senior Shia cleric made remarks regarding the sacred place of Arbaeen pilgrimage among Islamic rituals adding, “Arbaeen provides a chance for Muslims to reaffirm their adherence to the Prophet Muhammad (sawa) whose grandson was martyred in Karbala; Muslim believers must be mourning for all the hardship and sufferings that Ahl ul-Bayt (as) have gone through during the Ashura tragedy."

Elsewhere in his remarks, Grand Ayatollah Najafi urged Muslims to promote true Islamic ideology which is that of the Ahl ul-Bayt (as), “During Arbaeen ceremonies, Shia pilgrims must behave in a way that their actions speak louder than their words, they must avoid showing any radical ideas or actions since all such deviations are created by the imperialist powers of the world that wish to give Islam a bad name,”
