“Islamic scholars must not keep silent about the atrocities which are being carried out in Syria, Iraq and Yemen, they must stand up and voice their support for these Muslim countries,” said Ayatollah Noori.

Hawzah News Agency- In a meeting with some professors and officials of the Iraqi University of Islamic Sects’ Approximation, Ayatollah Noori stressed on the issue of Islamic unity among religious figures and scholars particularly in the two neighboring Shia countries of Iran and Iraq, “The issue of proximity between Islamic sects and unity of the Muslim community is considered as a top priority in the Islamic world today,” the Ayatollah said.

The senior Shia cleric then quoted Imam al-Sadiq (a.s) saying, “Islam is interwoven with politics and they are never apart; with the same amount of devotion that we attend to Islam, we must also attend to politics as well,”

“In Shia doctrine as well as in our Islamic teachings all Muslims are regarded as brothers and sisters, it has been emphasized in our religion that we must show affection and compassion towards one another, to attend congregational prayers in order to neutralize the  enemies’ plots,”

The source of emulation further stated, “Throughout the history of Islam, both Sunni and Shia scholars attended to learn Islamic sciences in the same educational settings alongside each other, this goes to prove that unity serves as a key element to resist the enemies’ conspiracies and to form a strong Islamic body,”
