۱۷-year-old Bahraini detainee goes on hunger strike

17-year-old Bahraini detainee Haidar Al-Mulla has reportedly gone on hunger strike after spending weeks in solitary confinement.

Hawzah News Agency (Manama, Bahrain) – According to activists, Al-Mulla is being 'blackmailed' by authorities at Bahrain's Dry Dock Detention Center, who are demanding that he sign a false confession or remain in solitary.

The teenager, arrested at the age of 15, has already been sentenced to 23 years in prison and stripped of his Bahraini citizenship on ‘terrorism’ charges.

Over the years, reports have frequently surfaced about Al-Mulla being denied access to medical care for injuries sustained during torture in detention, which include a fractured nose and loss of hearing in his left ear.
