Iran Underlines Continued Support for Lebanon against Foreign Plots

Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon reiterated his country's continued support and assistance to the Lebanese nation to confront enemies' plots.

Hawzah News Agency (Beirut, Lebanon) - "In light of the wise leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the government of President Hassan Rouhani, the Islamic Republic of Iran will always remain beside Lebanon to confront the plots against Lebanon and the Islamic Ummah,"  Mohammad Fathali said, addressing a ceremony in Beirut on Sunday.

He lauded the achievements gained by the resistance front under the leadership of Hezbollah Chief Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and underscored the necessity for safeguarding the achievements.

In relevant remarks in May, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed his country's continued support for Lebanon against terrorism and Israeli aggression, expressing the hope that the recent elections would further strengthen the Tehran-Beirut ties.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its supports for the Lebanese government and nation to resist against the terrorist groups and the aggressive measures by the Zionist regime," President Rouhani said in a meeting with new Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Hassan Abbas.

He noted that the recent elections in Lebanon indicated rule of democracy and people's views in the country, and said, "We hope that the elections will further strengthen unity in Lebanon, lead to economic flourishing of the country and further bolster the Tehran-Beirut relations."

Abbas, for his part, submitted his credentials to President Rouhani, and emphasized Lebanon's determination to expand and develop its ties with Iran in all fields.

Election results showed that Hezbollah and its political allies earned an unprecedented victory and secured over half the seats in Lebanon's first parliamentary vote in nine years.
