 Two Iranian border guards martyred in southeastern Iran

Iranian Border Guard Commander Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei said on Thursday that two border guards have been martyred in armed clashes with terrorist and drug traffickers in Sistan-Baluchestan Province, in southeastern Iran.

Hawzah News Agency (Sistan Baluchestan, Iran) - Rezaei said about 1.1 ton illegal drugs were confiscated by Iran's border guards in two military operations.

The commander added that two assailants were also killed and several others escaped the scene.

He added that the ambushers were seeking to import narcotics from the southeastern borderlines and two regions in Zabul in Zahedan in Sistan-Baluchestan Province simultaneously and Iranian armed forces clashed with them. 

Rezaei said the armed forces also managed to confiscate considerable amount of light and heavy weapons and munitions, military and telecommunication equipment.
