Jailed Bahraini human rights defender denied medical treatment

The Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD) reported that jailed Bahraini human rights defender Dr. Abduljalil Al-Singace is being denied medical treatment.

Hawzah News Agency (Manama, Bahrain) - Al-Singace is serving a life sentence at Bahrain’s notoriously brutal Jaw Prison for his role in the country's 2011 uprising.

According to BIRD, the blogger and academic is suffering from headaches and experiencing dizziness.

The rights group also revealed that authorities in Jaw refused to permit Al-Singace to see a bone specialist last Thursday.

Throughout his time in detention, Al-Singace has been subjected to torture and various other forms of ill-treatment.
