Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) - The 5th International Book Fair of Religion kicked off in Quds prayer hall of Qom on February 15th and continued until yesterday. A total of more than 100,000 titles were presented at the fair, which 20,000 of them were foreign books and works.

Hujjat al-Islam Sayed Muhammad Kazem Shams, member of the policy council for the book fair stated that this fair and other books fairs should be considered as important cultural events that have good effects and blessings for the society.

He added, “Holding book exhibitions anywhere, would provide a valuable opportunity for publishers, authors and the audience to closely interact with each other and to better understand the needs and circumstances of their cultural communication.”

Hujjat al-Islam Shams asserted that the international book fair of Religion is essentially a specialized exhibition on religion and said, “Creating and establishing the permanent secretariat of the fair as well as appointing members of the policy council were among the great measures that were made possible by the valuable support of Dr. Salehi, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance.”

He emphasized that although the book fair of Religion is held in Qom, it is in fact at the same quality as the International Book Fair of Tehran.
