Hawzah News Agency (Cairo, Egypt) - According to the media, those taking the courses learn reading and recitation of the Quran as well as memorization of the Holy Book.
Some senior Qaris and Quran scholars of al-Azhar Islamic Center teach the courses.
The center also holds courses in religious sciences such as Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Hadith, Quran interpretation, and Islamic beliefs.
Al-Azhar is a historical mosque in Cairo. A Fatimid Caliph commissioned its construction for the newly established capital city in 970 C.E. It was the first mosque established in the city.
