Iran’s Mottaki receives Iraqi Senior Cleric in Tehran

Iran’s former foreign minister,received head of Iraq's parliamentary commission for endowment and religious affairs in Tehran, Iran to discuss regional and religious issues. The Iraqi official expressed their willingness to expand mutual cooperation with the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Sects in terms of cultural activities.

Hawzah News Agency (Tehran, Iran) – Iran’s former foreign minister, Manouchehr Mottaki received an Iraqi political delegation in Tehran on Saturday, March 4, ۲۰۱۷, to discuss regional issues.

 

During the meeting which was held in the central office of The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) in Tehran, both sides discussed cultural and religious issues such as the possibility of establishing the university of Islamic sects as well as opening a representative branch of the WFPIST in Iraq.

 

Manouchehr Mottaki, Vice Chairman of WFPIST, stressed the importance of religious proximity among Islamic sects and said, "Islamic unity is the key to fight the threats of Takfirism and religious extremism in the Muslim world."

 

Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Ali al-Alagh, Head of Iraq's parliamentary commission for endowment and religious affairs, also urged the establishment of university of Islamic Sects in Iraq; "Iraqi prime minister is a supporter of proximity among Islamic sects, he has personally ordered the Iraqi minister of science to launch the project of building the University of Islamic Sects in Iraq."

 

In the end, the Iraqi official expressed their willingness to expand mutual cooperation with the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Sects in terms of cultural activities.
