 Georgian Grand Mufti: Islamic Unity to be promoted

“Georgia is considered as a Christian country, but the other religious minorities are living together peacefully in Georgia; there is also great cooperation in organizing religious ceremonies in our country,” “I’d like to offer the Georgian president’s message of condolence on the recent tragedy of the Plasco building collapse in Tehran to the people of Iran, scholars as well as the Iranian government.”

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – Beglar Kamashidze, a Georgian grand mufti met with Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, a senior Shia cleric, in Imam al-Sajjad (as) seminary school in Qom, Iran in which he asserted, “We’re so pleased that your eminence has received us here, I’d like to offer the Georgian president’s message of condolence on the recent tragedy of the Plasco building collapse in Tehran to the people of Iran, scholars as well as the Iranian government.”

 

He added, ““Georgia is considered as a Christian country, but the other religious minorities are living together peacefully and freely practicing their faith in Georgia; there is also great cooperation in organizing religious events in our country,”

 

Beglar Kamashidze, the Georgian mufti, further said, “Georgian Muslims are enjoying a firm solidarity and unity due to the efforts of Grand Ayatollah Sistani’s representative in Georgia in uniting Shia and Sunni scholars and bringing them together.”

 

“We are here to meet with Iranian scholars and bring the message of friendship and peace from Georgian Muslims to Iranians.”
