The head of the Faculty of Regional Studies of al-Mustafa International University indicated to some of the great progress achieved in the last ten years on trying to base the Humanities on Islamic ideals and said, ‘The Islamic Republic of Iran is the first and only country trying to base the Humanities on Islamic teachings.’

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) - Hujjat al- Islam (HI) Mirzaie said during the first workshop held on the topic of “Making the Humanities Islamic” that becoming the source of academia in the World is one of the principles of the holistic universal religion of Islam and that this principle is conditional on the Humanities being based on Islamic ideals and teachings.

 

He added, ‘Many of the insufficiencies and challenges that we see today in the Islamic World stems from the existence of weaknesses in the socialistic and humanistic fundamentals, theories and systems.’    

 

The academic board member of al-Mustafa emphasized that the current human societal systems are the results of human thought and knowledge and stated, ‘The acquisition of becoming the Islamic academic source of the World is the great responsibility of the seminaries especially in the varying fields of the Humanities.”

 

HI Mirzaie, by pointing to the different explanations and readings of basing the Humanities on Islamic ideals that have been presented during the last century explained, ‘The foundations of contemporary Humanities is based upon the principles of secularism, so this issue cannot simply be solved by filling the textbooks with religious observations, but rather it need to be re-build using a different world view and foundation based upon divinity, and the civilizational dos and don’ts of this system must be placed as a priority to be studied.’
