Quran in gold gifted to Holy Shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS

The Dean of the Literature Faculty of Dhi Qar University in Iraq gifted a copy of the Holy Quran written in gold to the representative of the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas’s (as) holy shrine. He added that he buys such copies to present them to the places where new methods are applied to preserve these valuable cultural heritage items.

Hawzah News Agency (Karbala, Iraq) - It was gifted in a meeting of Jaber Muhaisen Al-Rekabi, the Dean of the faculty, with a group of representatives from the Astan. 

 

According to Qaaf news agency, the Quranic manuscript dates back to over two and a half centuries ago.



The academic figure also gifted a copy of Sahifa Sajjadiyya dating back to more than 400 years ago, to Zaman Ubaid Wanas, the head of the delegation. 



Al-Rekabi said that the Astan of the holy shrine, which is equipped with specialized labs, is the best place for keeping these precious Islamic manuscripts. 



He added that he buys such copies to present them to the places where new methods are applied to preserve the valuable cultural heritage items. 



The participants in the meeting discussed the necessity of holding research seminars to investigate Islamic heritage particularly the cultural heritage in the city of Karbala.
