Hawzah News Agency-Residents of all age groups this weekend explored the world’s old civilization and cultures through an Islamic art exhibition in Mississauga, southern Ontario, Canada.

Organized by Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) Sisters, the Islamic Heritage Exhibition took place Saturday, Nov. 5, at the glass pavilion of Mississauga Celebration Square.

“The purpose of this exhibition is to promote our religion, culture and heritage and remove all misconceptions about Islam,” said Zakia Suleiman of ICNA Sisters, Mississauga branch.

The one-day event featured numerous exhibits showcasing Islamic civilization and heritage as well as an art exhibition by city artist Uzma Bilal.

It also provided opportunity to learn about the Prophet’s diets and recipes such as dates, figs, honey and olives and discover about hijab and Muslims’ scientific heritage in the world.

An on-site photo booth was also set up where visitors took photos in Muslim dresses.

The Lost Libraries of Timbuktu movie was also screened.
