The constitution is an important issue that all the countries of the world are working on. No country can exist without a constitution, and this is one of the basic issues of all countries in the world.

Hawzah News Agency- Hujjat al- Islam Sayyed Abul Hassan Nawab, Chancellor of the University of Religions and Denominations, was a keynote speaker at a ceremony to commemorate the day of the parliament and the approval of the Iranian Constitution at the University of Religions and Denominations in Qom on Saturday, November 3.

“The Constitution is an important issue that all countries of the world are working on. No country can exist without a constitution and basically law, and this is one of the basic issues of all countries in the world.” Hujjat al-Islam Nawab said.

He continued,” The constitution of every country is the covenant among that nation and it cannot be changed easily. Although it is not true to say that the constitution is a divine revelation and cannot be changed. This is not the case at all, however the constitution is the foundation of every country, it may need to be amended, but this amendment will not be easily implemented, and fundamental issues must be considered for its amendment, as in our constitution, this issue has been considered. Therefore, amending the constitution itself is a legal process.”

Hujjat al -Islam Sayyed Abul Hassan Nawab further noted, “These days, some people who are in the streets of the country and are engaged in destroying public and private property, are requesting that the constitution be changed. It is very clear that changing and amending the Constitution is not possible with these behaviors, and as mentioned, amending the Constitution requires a special procedure that is considered in the Constitution itself.”

He continued,” This is not specific to Iran and its constitution. Rather, if we look at the constitution of other countries, we see the same procedure. For example, The US, which may be considered as a utopia for many of the rioters, is the same. The US constitution is 150 years old and has not changed yet. Yes, it has had amendments and additions, but it has not changed.”

The Chancellor of the University of Religions and Denominations explained,” Some say that the generation has changed and this constitution was passed for the previous generation. In response to these people, we must say that the generation has not changed only in Iran. This has happened all over the world, but in none of these countries has anything been proposed as a change to the constitution.”
